The Dishwasher Debacle,LYME Disease Oh My !

November 15, 2019

I started doing it I take one of my
homemade soaps and I put it in this this is only to wash dishes and somebody fill
this up with water it already has the soap in it so I
weren’t doing that so that really helps me a lot eating the water does get tiresome
sometimes but everybody has something in their life that they don’t really enjoy
doing and this just I don’t mind them that bad but eating the water up does
make it kind of burdensome but you know I think about it all the time at least I
have water I’m thankful for that a lot of people ask me what am I gonna do when
I get older you know how am I gonna cope with all of this well I don’t worry
about that because I just take it one day at a time and as long as I can
handle all of the workload then I enjoy it and I’m grateful for all that I have
and someday if I can’t then we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it so the water is heating up so what I do
is I filled my sink with partly cold water and remember I got this at the
thrift store and I use that as a drying mat so I’m gonna had a good idea they
said about putting tea towels and sewing them on the inside yeah that is a great
idea but this girl can’t sell I can’t sell and it’s kind of sad cuz my mom was
an avid sower my mom could so she stood all of my own clothing my mom stood her
clothing and my clothing I didn’t pick up that trait but that’s okay
we all have strong points and weaknesses and trust me I have a lot of weaknesses
in my life sewing it’s just a small minor part
there’s a lot of things I can’t do but then there’s some things that I can do
so we focus on the positive remember and we don’t focus on the negative you right
now a lot of you are wondering why did I get rid of the dishwasher
well it’s twofold first of all it stopped working and I kind of took that
as a sign and also I’m really trying to lower my electric bill because we really
want to try to cut back on some more expenses that we have damn even though
my electric bill isn’t high compared to what most people would say we are at a
time right now where we really have to cut back even more and so it stopped
working and I’m really reducing my electric and I’m trying to cut out on
some other bills as well you know we don’t know what tomorrow brings and my
husband I really would like to get to the point where he can work even less
and less and less and that my son will take over what my husband has been doing
that is our goal is eventually that my son would be able to take over and then
my husband could retire and it’s getting to the point in my husband’s life work
it’s getting very difficult for him to work even the hours that he’s working
now so that means either we gain more money
or we reduce our expenses and for us it’s easier to reduce our expenses
people talk about me and wondering why I don’t work away from home working away
from home was something that I had never been brought up doing I think it’s
amazing how women work away from home I I think that it’s just something that is
so strong in their character some some women are half to some women enjoy it
and I think that is amazing but for my culture and my lifestyle staying at home
was what we did my husband likes me to be at home and so I stayed home and I
try to cut costs and as you know I’m on YouTube and so that income really helps
supplement us at a time when we could use it and so God gives us all of these
things in our life and I do really believe that he gave me my YouTube
channel to really help us you know we never know we never know where we’re
gonna be next year from now or and that’s something that we just strive to
do a very best where we’re at in life and I’m so blessed by having all of you
as my friends and having all of you as my mentors and you’re helping me in
saving more money you’re helping me in so many ways and so I don’t have the
dishwasher and that is great because I’m learning to just go back to simple ways
of living and even though the dishwasher really did help me when it stopped
working I realized you know what if I do my dishes a little at a time
it’s really not a big deal and plus it’s just going back to my old fashioned way
of life and that’s what my channel is about so there’s where the story is
about that so I want to show you something that I was able to get this
month now when you use my Amazon storefront or you use my Amazon links I
get some credit so I bought this dish pan and why is this dish pan so special
well now my water goes into a bucket and I recycle all of my gray water so I
still have to haul it out but I’ll show you why this dish panis is
special instead of having to lift it up and dump it out it has a drain at the
bottom of it and I was share with you the link of it in case somebody’s
interested in it but that’s what it looks like and then you just put the
piece it and you can fill it up again they’re really neat I never knew there
was stuff like that so I started searching and this really helps me out a
little things like that really are blessing in my life and I like showing
you what you do helps me so even if it’s small things like a dish pan still I
think you would enjoy knowing where all of my credits go at the end of the month
when you purchase things on Amazon well like my mom would say it’s
Wednesday and Wednesday means reading up day reading up day means going through
your house and just straightening everything out it’s not a deep clean
it’s just a straightening of everything so I read it up everything in the house
and everything looks just nice and on Fridays is when I do my deep cleaning
but Wednesdays is reading up day so how was everybody’s day today
you know another week I was so unmotivated we all have days like that
some days where we are motivated and other days we’re not I’ve come to
realize that’s part of life the humdrum of life it affects us all on different
levels sometimes I think that my Lyme disease from 2014 affects me yet I don’t
know they say once you have limes you have it in your body forever
in 2014 I had a tick bite and within a couple days I had the bullseye rash and
what happened was the bacteria in the tick bite actually caused me to have a
potential life-threatening condition I received hives all over my body
the hives were in my inside my body and outside my body the hives were in my
mouth and my nose and my ears it was a very scary very scary thing for me and
sometimes I think that my pain I get is from that I don’t know my mom always
told me everyone has a thorn in their side that’s true
it’s on days when we’re feeling really well then we just need to really work
that way on days we don’t feel so good we can take it easier well now we’re
gonna go and dehydrate these did you know that I’m able to make videos like
these because the viewers like you and for that I really thank you also you’re gonna find all of the videos
in the last week I’m gonna put them at the end of this video just in case that
you missed them I know not everybody can watch my videos every single day so here
you go you

Never replaced my dishwasher, and it has helped me wash dishes and put them away, something having a small kitchen almost requires. Thankfully I have never had lyme disease. The east coast seems to have the most lyme disease cases. If your awesome husband Chevyman still works, does that money go into savings or is it used to meet monthly expenses?

  • Reply Jane Self November 14, 2019 at 1:42 am

My dishwasher broke. I wash them myself now. I am also saving on electric. There are many blackouts happening all over the land. We are entering a Depression. I was a full time homemaker my entire life. I never sit down -always chores to do. No regrets. One task at a time, one day at a time. Keeping it simple.

We don't have a dishwasher. I find washing dishes calming; same thing with ironing. (I'm not a good seamstress. I can sew buttons and the occasional hemming.) You ARE working at home. You're the manager of everything that makes it comfortable and wonderful. God bless.

  • Reply Carol Babb November 14, 2019 at 2:06 am

Yikes! Hope you have not had lasting effects from the Lyme disease. My Aunt has a dishpan like that she likes a lot as she can't lift heavy things. For the 1st time in over 35 years I now have a dishwasher. I use it every week or two but mostly wash by hand out of habit and use it for storage when I want to clean up quick!

  • Reply Michael Ryan November 14, 2019 at 2:09 am

Tessie, thanks for sharing, I asked my mom to teach me to sew when I was in eighth grade . Unplugging things when not in use seems to help my electric bill or use a strip that has a master switch , I turn it off at night while I sleep it has tv, router and WiFi . God bless !

Tessie, how do i go through your store front on Amazon to give you credit? I need to know please.
I know what you mean about sickness staying with you, although technically not sick any longer. I haven't had Lyme disease but my bout last fall in the hospital seemed to take strength and energy that seems to be gone now.
God bless you Sweet Tessie. We love you!

I think one of the things I enjoy most about your videos is how you appreciate all the simple things in life. You show everyone who watches that the simple things are the most important things !
A few years ago we had to have our sewer line rerun after a pipe burst and it took nine days to get the money together so no water for those nine days ! We filled water bottles to flush the toilet, and took our showers both at our daughters house . It made me truely appreciate having clean running water ! Almost everyone has had their power go off due to weather or some other issue , so having power is a real blessing ! I think in today’s age we can take those things for granted but they really are a luxury that many people do not have . Thanks for always showing that there are always blessings in our lives no matter what you feel you are missing ! Health , family , a roof over our heads , a job , food , clothes , and those utilities are all things to thank God for daily and I make sure I do every day !
Thank you for uplifting videos I look forward to !

i bought a portable dishwasher in 1997 when my son was born, due to the fact I contracted severe strep throat, which left me with a skin disease called psoriasis, all over my body, which made my hands very sore if I wash dishes too much by hand gloves does not work for me cause they are mostly latex which I am now allergic too , if it does break down, knock on wood that it does not, I most likely will not purchase another one , instead I think I would buy some more dishracks from the dollar store and turn my bathtub into hands free dishwasher lol , my sister too has Lyme disease, but it has not stopped her from enjoying her life thanks for sharing your video Tess

What I believe you should do – is have home classes, where you teach people to can food and garden. Hi, Tessie, thank you for sharing! I agree about the weakness after Lyme disease. I first got shingles, very bad around my left eye and on the head, then my immune system was kind of weaker as usual, 2 years later I got Lyme disease. I was never the same, it seems I’ve lost all my power. I forced myself to go to work, didn’t know how to say, how weak I felt. Nobody could understand, included me…but I had to deal with it. And I did. I retired after some hard years, a bit earlier as usual, with a bit less money as usual?‍♀️, I don’t work along hours anymore, I cut everything up in quarter of hours, rest in between, and I get everything done, well, sooner or later?. I even cut my hair short, because every work let me sweat and I had a lot of colds, because my long hair was always wet. I’ve learned a lot by reading, for instance: shingles are quite often followed by Lyme disease. Nobody knows why. But no matter what: Nowadays I enjoy the good and the bad days. On bad days I read, knit, do easy things, rest and draw, on good days I do house and garden work, prepare cooking and go for visits. I’ve learned to be kind to me?. Love Monika❣️

I never had a dishwasher. I like to do it by hand, it is cheaper and faster 🙂 Even if I wanted one I don't have a single idea where to put it. And ofcourse with only two persons at home, it isn't a lot of work. Wednesday is my reddingup day too, since it is the middle of the week, it makes some sense. Lyme disease is indeed a very nasty thing. I didn't discover any ticks this year, but we had another problem this year (the oak processionary). It can make you scratch for weeks,

I have a dishwaster that I do not use for dish-washing, it is, however, the perfect place to keep my paper goods – large items on the bottom rack and things like wax paper, parchment paper on the top rack. I too wash dishes by hand , just once a day after dinner, and just turn the pan into the sink to go down the drain. I use the other sink to drain the dishes then hubby puts them away when he goes to bed. I have a tiny kitchen and can't spare the counter space to drain dishes.

Tessie, have you ever considered passive solar to preheat your water? Something like a camper's shower bag, or even a black hose loosely laid out on the roof, or for your greenhouse use during the early spring and late fall with black water barrels? We used the black hose in CT all year feeding into the house, worked well. It could potentially reduce your electric use.

Lyme disease can be terrible. A close friend of mine contracted it and it completely devastated her physically and emotionally. She was one of the unfortunate ones that did not get the 'bulls eye rash', so she was not diagnosed early into the symptoms. By the time she was diagnosed, Lyme had ravaged her body. It sounds odd to say I am glad you got the bulls eye rash that alerted you to the toxins in your body, so you were able to receive treatment in a timely way. I wonder what clever person came up with the idea of adding a simple drain to a dish pan? Brilliant! I'd love one of those! Being able to cut expenses is always smart. We're on a fixed income and we get through each month without alot to spare. Last week our car officially died. Now we have another debt to pay off because we purchased a used car. I truly have few options to cut expenses. The house we rent is full electric. We're on the budget plan, but during the winter our monthly payments are adjusted and increase as our power consumption also increases. We do not have cable, satellite, or streamed tv. We will manage and be thankful for everything we do have!

It's really something how a small little creature, a wood tick, can cause such a horrible disease! It's a miracle that you're here, Tessie! Glad you are! We just love you out here in MN 🙂 I have a fully-working dishwasher, and I do use it, but minimally. I end up saying, oh I'll just do one more dish…then they're all done! I save the dishwasher for another day….have a wonderful day out there Tessie! Still praying for Sierra….hope she's feeling ok….Dawn @ Rich & Dawn in MN 🙂

I have a dishwasher, but by the time I fill it I can do it much quicker by hand.

Good morning Tessie hope your day is amazing! Enjoyed your video as usual. The dishpan is really neat. I will be looking at a way to get one.

I recently had a backed up kitchen sink… I took the sink apart and had it draining in a bucket that i had to empty every few loads of dishes… So at first i was dreading it … Until I thought of you Tessie? All of your hard work keeps me motivated to do the things I need to do without thinking it's difficult THANK YOU for that❤????

Tessie, we don't use our dishwasher due to plumbing. (precious owner) I am sorry about your Lyme Disease. My 26 year old son has been tested for it. We are waiting for the results. Have a blessed Thursday! ❤❤❤xxx

Like a lot of people have commented, Tessie, see if your hubby can get on some sort of disability. He just may be eligible. It might put your minds at ease!

  • Reply Felica Goodland November 14, 2019 at 3:50 pm

I never knew they made something like that either. I need a dishpan because I have a single bowl sink. This would make everything so much easier. The price isn't bad at all. You will be getting a small credit from me, but I will be gaining an easier way to do dishes! win win LOL

I am 75 now Tessie and have never had a dish washer in my life. I just wash my dishes by hand. My Mum had 12 children and didn’t even have a washing machine. She had a boiler for the “white’s” though. Love your videos, I watch you every day x

I don’t use my dishwasher even though it’s very nice and quiet. My mother had hers removed as never once
Used it or a clothes dryer. I do use a clothes dryer. Love air fresh bedding and clothing better but it is less work and handy
On rainy or cold days to use a dryer and I don’t have to iron much of anything unless I want to.
It would be nice for you to have a small one.In the winter, after you bake, can open the oven and put a chair by it with a little clothing at a time to dry. I feel bad you have to heat your water…that seems
Like something to save up for even doing it frugally to be able to have heated water. That will save you
A lot of work. Heard ticks were worse this year in the Northeast. People are plucking them off their animals.
Don’t like sewing like my mother who is a natural at it. Liked to crochet, make rugs, paint, anything but sitting still at a machine. Recently thought about getting a cheap sewing machine to make just a few things.
But, wouldn’t want to let anyone know as I may really screw up…not a skill I have, but, probably can’t do much worse than some of the clothes I have where the seams come apart, buttons fall off, etc. feel sad for what you went through with Lyme’s disease and from a little tick! You had a severe reaction. I freaked out when I had a tick on my abdomen as a child in our up north swimming pool…a wooden barrel with water
Outside. My daughter had one on the back of her arm in Florida…first time camping. She freaked out.
I don’t know much about ticks, but used a two hot matches to get that thing off her.

It is nice if you can be a homemaker and bring up children to always know you are right there.
It is a lot of work to be responsible for meals, laundry, leaning, shopping, remembering birthdays, tending to animals, garden, etc.
I had a few years at home before I had to work outside the home. Still had to plan meals, fun times for the children, doing laundry at least twice a week at night and washing the floor, then it was hours of cooking to put away meals in the freezer as well as eating them for a couple of days. Exhausted and I was picky…painted inside and outside the home, mowed the yard. There really
Was no rest. When you are young you can do many things, the older
You get, it takes longer and you don’t care as much if everything isn’t just
So. Don’t get hard on yourself if something you planned to do
Today, can’t be done for a couple of more days. Who is policing you?
You are allowed to rest. Your body lets you know. Keeping up a homestead is
Never ending. Slow and steady wins the race. I have lived being a home-
Maker, working full- time up to 60 hours a week some weeks and still
Had laundry, cleaning, yard work, cooking, shopping, keeping up with children’s needs
And activities and for 25 years…had all the holiday celebrations
In my home. Looking back, don’t Know how I did it. Retired now,
Instead of resting, dehydrating, canning, etc as know harder
Times around the corner. I never like ironing. Was put on ironing duty when about ten years old.
Everything from hankercheifs, men’s underwear, thick linen sheets. One day, my brother was
To perform in the band he was in and my mother had sewed up shirts for all the guys in the band…
Back then, it was a silky fabric, in baby blue, and had ruffles at the sleeve! I only knew one temperature
Setting on the iron and that was “hot”. Well…needless to say, I placed the iron on the back of the
Shirt, but, couldn’t lift the iron back off. I unplugged the iron but there was no fix for this…yes a brown
Iron stain with maybe a little fabric missing. My brother came around the corner and his vocals could
Be heard across the neighborhood. He had to wear a jacket over his shirt that night, but, there is
A rainbow at least for me. I was taken off ironing duty.

My mom has always wanted a dishwasher and I never owned one until 4 years ago. I got it for my mom who has been long gone by that time. I use it when I get this feeling my mom would be overwhelmed with doing all the dishes like a sink full or overflowing with dishes, I put it in there just for her. It’s the only reason I have it. Otherwise I find great comfort in doing dishes by hand. I remember my dad telling me that the doctor thought he had LYME one summer. He couldn’t understand why he was so tired and that was several years ago. It really does a number on you but it seems my dad worked through it somehow. I guess its different with everyone who gets diagnosed with it. I’m always tired and its because I’m on the go constantly….and with a farm, you get the feeling of being tired but really you just have put in a good and very productive day. Sowing starts with threading the needle and if you can do that, you can sow however it gets to get it fixed. I learned to darn and sow which I think and know its the same thing, LOL. Yeah I know about the expenses. I started doing research on certain things and cut out a lot of it some time back and now am down to just the bare. I don’t need a phone plan for my IPhone and I can do just fine without it and just use WIFI wherever and you’d be surprised at how much free WIFI is out there. I don’t need a cable plan for the television. An antenna is just as functional and doesn’t cost a thing. So that was cut out. I get those movies, free movies and Goodwill sells 5 VHS tapes for just one dollar and I’m a big fan of those old time movies. Join AARP to get STEEP discounts on insurance and I have that. I was paying 190 a month for my truck insurance and when I joined AARP (senior citizen website for ages 50 and above) on my 50th birthday, I saved 155 off my truck insurance. I was overpaying. I was surprised. You will get through this. Just believe and it will happen.

I’m a blabbermouth today. This is for you and your hubby who have chickens. I happened across a you-tube
Channel an attorney does giving information on different cases he handles. It’s called Lehto’s Law.
Yesterday, he put up a video about a man living in New Zealand who owns a bed and breakfast.
He serves fresh eggs from his eleven chickens. He wanted to purchase two more chickens and
Went on line to find an ad that someone had 1,000 chickens they needed to sell fast, just place your bid.
So, he placed a bid at $1.50 New Zealand money, in the US it is 96 cents. The next day, he was contacted
Congratulating him as his bid won the chickens. Then, he was asked, “what are you planning to do
With a thousand chickens”?!!! Yes, he just purchased 1,000 free-range chickens for 96 cents. What?
His community helped him and he found homes for all of them. ?

Love your channel Tessie and I really commend you for being so frugal and self sufficient, it shows us all that we can survive on a lot less. One thing I couldn't live without are my hot showers though…I mean…if I had to I guess I would be okay with heating water to wash with, but…I hope it never comes to that. LOL God bless

Dear Tessie, I am so sorry to hear about your Lyme decease and your husband’s illness also. I will pray for both of you. If you trust in the Lord he will answer your prayers. These past few days have been very stressful for our family. My daughter and I were going to take our dog the vet on Monday. He was sick. She lost her balance coming down the stairs and fell head first, breaking her nose and requiring 7 stitches. The same day I learned my daughter-in-law gas breast cancer. Through prayer I do believe God will heal all of us.

Greetings Tessie..I'm late watching again but yes I understand what it's like really having to watch your pennies..the water bill can actually get pretty expensive because your sewer is partly calculated by your water usage..and yes working outside the house may trigger some side effects of your Lyme's disease I don't know but I thought it was something that was never fully prayers are with you and Ken.. blessings to you and your family ? ?? ?

Hello Tessie! I need to get a pan like that to wash dishes! This is what I did to lower my electricity bill; I called Con Ed and asked their rates during the 24 hr. day. I found out they charge 19 cents from 8am to 6 pm. From 612 am is 14 or 11 cents, from 12 am to 8am is 4 cents a kilowatt. I do laundry, charge phones, use vacuums and anything I need to use electricity for during the hours of 12am to 8am. I suspect your dehydrator takes a lot of electricity to run. So call your elect. company. Take vitamin b6 for your condition, you will feel better, God bless.

Oh Tessie, you work hard at home. I admire that. I was the brought up the same way as you mom stayed at home dad went out to work. Unfortunately that's not what life has in-store for me. Being divorced I had to work full time. I only wish I could have done what you've done. Staying home. It's very hard keeping a home and working full-time. I really admire all you do for your family. <3

It's said, "God never gives us more than we can handle." If it weren't for that we might not push ourselves to try new things. / As for dishwashers, I hate them! Wash to put in the dishwasher to pullout and wash again. No thank you! ugh! / As you for you sewing. You can learn anything you set your mind to. Start out with mending things. Even if you are just mending a dishcloth. Practice. Practice makes perfect. Youtube has several videos on learning.

My dishwasher (it came with the house lol) died five or six years ago. It finally just rusted through. Not a big deal. I just wash a little here and a little there. I never let dishes gang up. That is a key thing, to wash them as you go, don't let them gang up.

I know sometimes as woman we are expected to work. I was a stay at home and my husband use to say I worked harder than he did. It wasn't a competition but each one has a job to do. You work very hard. If you paid someone to do all the jobs you do it would cost a fortune. Don't ever let people question you why you don't work outside the home. Your where the Lord has you for a reason.

Please keep an eye on Chevy man, know many who have almost died from infection spreading. The hard part is once you have had it you can get it again, I had it in my face by my eye couple years ago and a pastors wife here was in the hospital for over 1 week battling it. Lord please pour out your healing on Chevy man and restore his health to him so that he can do all that he needs to do in life. Lord bless you and hugs and much love that dish pan was awesome, I have a question, what do you use it if you have a sink and its divided? know some that use them to protect their sink. Just curious as to why, my grandma used on her sink was a large one with no dividers so it came in handy. Any electric bill is tough, yep here oh my budget is going to be cut in half in 1 year oh my its going to be interesting. I know you don't work, what happens if you can do something beside you tube at home to bring in extra money. I have had to do this over the years and its amazing how that helps. Your going back to what you channel started out with simplicity. Thats the key is to do the dishes as you dirty them as your cooking then when you sit down to eat all you have is those dishes. It makes a big different when your done eating also when you have guests or family over you can visit sitting down.
