WE CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT THIS IN OUR VAN | Van Life Europe + Cooking

February 10, 2020

so it turns out that you guys got very passionate over win the wilderness Alaska episode 2 – I’ve had phone calls I’ve had emails your guys comments have been absolutely amazing I know you guys are backing us 100% and are there every step of the way and the next episode is coming out tonight at 9:00 p.m. BBC – it should be interesting [Music] good evening guys we are starting a vlog at a slightly different time today because we just drove 180 miles all the way to Portugal and we found the sun this is the first time I’ve seen it on this trip and it’s so lovely to be in the warmth of the Golden Sun again we’re parked up at one of our favourite spots we love it here and it’s right on the coast a newer style and I will speak for you can I feel I will feel for you now [Music] this is my favourite thing sitting on the side of the van enjoying whatever the view is outside the side door because it changes every day and I’ve got my favourite gin, oh man smells so good got this for a steel in Morrison’s in Gibraltar so that was an excellent trip I must say and now I’m gonna have a lovely G&T and enjoy the sunset out of my leopard print bamboo mug cheers! your heart is full of this trouble and when the night whispers your fears out loud but you is you know when the sunlights missing your face [Music] just cooking up a feast for an early lunch having an oven never gets old roast potatoes is just our absolute favourite we have potatoes in every single meal like good Irish descendants that we are and we’ve got some nice grilled tomatoes on the go and grilled asparagus I’m obsessed with a bit of garlic bit of salt bit of coconut oil and you’re perfect and I don’t know why I’ve still got this on but I don’t need it but i can’t wait to eat I’ve got to taste test you spuds before you declare them ready because there’s nothing worse than biting into a potato and it’s hard still this one looks promising Bee’s just cooked an incredible lunch Thank You Bee and we have a sea view to enjoy it with look at that oh thank you very much bae you’re not sure how long these winds will close starting the day off right van style so that means trimming the beard and the mustache using the wing mirror we don’t actually have a mirror in the van so this is perfect [Music] it’s been really lovely spending a couple of days at this spot it’s been really chilled out really quiet the views absolutely gorgeous and it never gets old here we do love it but the weather’s changing the wind’s rolling in we’ve got itchy feet so we’re gonna head somewhere else we’re not too sure yet we’re just gonna see where the wind takes us [Music] [music] [music] [Music] [Music] last night we pulled up to a spot this turned out to be really beautiful because we got here in the dark so we couldn’t actually see the surroundings at all and something really bizarre happened so this cat just arrived why is it this really cute cat just arrived and now it’s just chillin on bees back but it was really interested in ginjey and Ginjey’s trying to scare it away but it’s so cute to be friends with I could not believe its just appeared ginjey always seems to attract different cats I don’t know if you guys can hear that but ginjey is not a happy girl it’s really friendly ginjey is not sure that little black cat it just came outta nowhere and ginjey was growling at it she’s not used to being around too many other cats I cannot believe that a random cat has just turned up and it was looking for ginjey seemed to know that we had a cat with us because it was waiting outside the van and bees actually gone out to feed it because the reason it must be so affectionate and so confident is it’s desperate for food so it looks like it needs a meal it’s quite skinny and that’s the best we can do for tonight if it’s still here in the morning we’re gonna have to figure out our next move so I went to bed last night worrying about this cat where did it come from was it hungry? had it had been abandoned? what was going on? so I fed it last night and it was hungry but it wasn’t bony it was actually a really good size so I thought you know what it’s super friendly I bet this cat belongs to someone if it’s here this morning I’m gonna have to figure out what to do because I can’t just leave it and then I leave outside I go outside this morning and the cat is gone it’s obviously just here for a free meal it’s spotted our motorhome knew it must have smelled ginjey and thought they’ve got cat with them they’re gonna have cat food I’m living the dream so it’s somewhere gone who knows there are farms around here so I anticipate that it must have come from one of them [Music] [music] [Music] we have been saying we are gonna wash the van for so long now and we finally just found a car wash so we’re gonna get it done but it’s in such a state I imagine it’s gonna take a while look what a mess the van is we’ve been off-roading so much on this trip there’s just dirt and grime and mud and clay everywhere and it’s all up in the arches and you want to get that out otherwise your van will rot away [Music] [Music] and she’s done there’s actually still water misting past for some reason but that took an awfully long time because washing a big van takes forever I actually had to go into the shop and get some more change because we ran out of coins it took that long but are you ready to see the final process? [music] a lot longer than we thought it was going to because of this horrible clay mud that gets stuck everywhere it’s really difficult to get off we’ve done our best but what we’re gonna do is once we get back to the land which is where we’re heading now we are gonna wait for it all to dry out underneath the vehicle and then I’m gonna go right under with a stiff brush and brush it all, never know what we might find under there so we are now back on the land and it’s so nice to be back it’s beautiful sunshine here the birds are chirping the flowers have come out and it’s just really gorgeous spring is our favourite time of the year and it seems like it may have come a little bit early which is nice so when we were gone we were really worried because we’ve been seeing reports of friends and other people in the local area having roofs blown off and all sorts of things happening so when we got back we were kind of looking out see if there was any damage and there was one thing that had been affected by the wind and that one thing is behind me it’s a beautiful old apple tree and it’s obviously died and all of its roots are dead and all it needed was a big storm to come along and blow it over so I’ve got the chainsaw out the barn I’m wearing a jumper even though it’s 21 degrees because when I use a chainsaw I like to stay covered up but come around here and you can see the roots and where it’s literally just ripped it out the ground it’s actually quite a big tree so we should get quite a lot of nice firewood out it but yeah you can see here it’s literally just been ripped out of the ground I’m gonna leave Theo – chopping the tree down on his own he doesn’t need me he’s got the chainsaw that can do a much better job than I can I’m actually gonna go and write some more blog posts because you guys have been loving the blogs that I’ve been writing about win the wilderness Alaska thank you so much to all the comments it’s really lovely to hear your thoughts and also I’m curious what have you been thinking about the last episode I highly doubt that you guys will actually watch me write a blog in real time so I’m gonna end the vlog here thank you so much for joining us and we will see you on the next video

I’m loving watching you guys on your travels, it’s really awakening the wanderer in me 😊
I go off in my campervan with my two dogs quite a bit but I want to do more now, I live in the Midlands. I’m often in Wales in various free places, usually by the sea and every summer I head north and holiday with my chap in Scotland and the Hebridean Isles.
You two are fab, I love your lifestyle and achievements so far and dream of doing similar πŸ€—
I’m also addicted to watching the weekly Win the Wilderness, will be settling in to watch tonight’s episode after last weeks show, you guys were robbed! X

  • Reply T4 Tips & Guides February 9, 2020 at 2:42 pm

I thought for a second Bea was just going to take a swig of gin straight from the bottle haha.

I was shouting at the TV last week during the Win the Wilderness show, not sure what the director is trying to do in regards to you two but I guess we will find out. I am just glad I have been a follower of yourselves for so many years that I can see beyond whatever it is they are trying achieve.

I have tried to imagine what it must be like for those who have zero knowledge of you two before seeing you on that show. The show must be very different to watch from their perspective. Am I biased? of course I am haha, I would love for you guys to win, rooting for you all the way. Can't wait to see how they edit tonight's episode.

Maybe something dark…like an Indie Projects logo!😊. Anyway, cheers and look forward to seeing you on β€œWinning Alaska”, if I can figure out how!

Having just got back from Australia to see my son and his wife, I'll definitely be investing in a weber BBQ, they're awesome.. good luck, travel safe & "keep the faith" …(that's an urban Mod British subculture expression)
    You 3are a lovely family.

You guys are such intrepid explorers, I’m not sure being in one place will necessarily be your thing but then again I’m not in your heads so any guess is just that 😁
Maybe if you did win you could set up a business there and just get others to run it for you when you decide to travel; best of both worlds and who says you can’t have it all ? πŸ˜‰

Hi guys. I have been trying to find your TV debut on the BBC channel here in the US at the Jersey shore, I CAN"T FIND IT!!! I wanted to let you know that YT "Callum ExploreMe" is converting their van, and guess who they are watching to get inspiration and ideas from, The Indie Projects. He mentioned on his 2nd build video. I thought you would like to know. He is in the UK. Love you guys and your videos. Yeah, Theo, we could hear poor Ginjie growling at that kitty. Ginjie blends with the sand at your parking place, be careful not to leave her. hahaha, Bea must be the kitty whisperer. Good job feeding it and then with its full belly the kitty leaves its dream spot to find another. I haven't converted my rig yet, but I will be installing an oven and stove. I think, any appliance we add to the build, takes up space. So you adjust and build around it. Love you guys. Be Safe and Enjoy your Travels

do u ever cook in a dutch oven in the ground? Im so glad your heart was tender towards a different cat.. im not an animal person, but we have a cat that adopted us and 3 dogs at the moment. 2 belong to my daughter that has been deployed. .i dont like seeing any animal suffer or be cold and hungry. Im so glad u at least fed it. My cat was a stray cat that moved into our barn, and then found the dog door, so he is now an inside cat, but goes outside to do his business. He also travels with us, but 4 wheeling isnt his thing..
